Sharp Brain consulting

Sharp Brain Consulting strives to see a diverse public service sector that prioritizes belonging and employee well-being. We do this by providing neuroscience-based organizational development support for organizations that operate within the public service sector.

About us

Our staff provides organizational support for public service sector organizations. We do this through training sessions and consulting services. Everything we do is to improve the outcomes of organizations that exist to do good in our communities.

Sharp Brain Consulting was founded in 2017 as an attempt to improve organizational outcomes through training and development. Jessica combined her brain knowledge, her passion for improving the community, and her business & organizational education to support organizations. Jessica knows that non-profit and other public service sector organizations are only as strong as their staff - to improve our communities, we have to have the best staff team and strong cultures.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Sharp Brain Consulting strives to be an anti-racist organization that uplifts the voices of traditionally marginalized, systemically barred and underserved communities. We know that we are not perfect, but we are committed to doing our best, and learning as much as possible along the way.

In our world, we are socialized to shy away from difficult topics like race, and many of us are taught not to see race - this, unfortunately, has created a scenario in which talking about race and diversity, equity, and inclusion is difficult. We believe that all organizations should be committed to equity work, but public sector organizations have a particular duty to engage in this work.

We also want to be clear on our non-discrimination policy. Sharp Brain Consulting's team does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law or any other identity group. We do not condone discrimination or harassment and do not work with organizations that do not believe in or agree with this statement.

What is Organizational development?

Organizational development is a critical and science-based process that helps organizations build their capacity to change and achieve greater effectiveness by developing, improving, and reinforcing strategies, structures, and processes.

These efforts are:

  • Planned

  • Organization-wide

  • Managed from the top

  • Increase organization effectiveness and health

  • Through planned interventions in the organization's "processes,” using behavioral science knowledge.

This work will feel similar to capacity-building work.

Jessica, our CEO, is a student of leadership psychology. What is that? The William James College OLP department describes it as follows:

Leadership Psychology is a unique approach to understanding how individuals function as leaders and followers. The area of study examines those who are leaders themselves, those who are followers, and those who advise leaders. The goal is to understand the elements of being a great leader. The way you perform as a leader influences the performance of your team and colleagues.
